Vintage Cellar Review (Stephen Tanzer): Inky purple. Musky blueberry, blackberry, cassis and violet on the nose, with complicating oak spice and dwhite pepper nuances. Supple, sweet and liant, displaying good energy and focus to its black fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Finishes with strong but smooth tannins and a hint of candied flowers.
My Review: The color of this wine was extremely dark red, bordering on purple. The aroma smelled strongly of berries. I was intrigued by the color of this wine. The taste was much more tangy than other wines in this particular tasting (Saturday afternoon at the Vintage Cellar). When I tasted this wine, I had just tasted three others immediately before. Therefore, I feel like I didn't get the best feel for the wine and would be interested to taste it sometime in the future with a clean palate. It should also be noted that this wine was from 100 year old vines and spent 18 months in oak. This adds to my desire to experiment further with this wine in the future.
